More sustainable freight solutions
Our commitment to an international freight forwarding green incentive scheme will help Oak International Freight operate more sustainably in the road haulage sector.
Moving goods on your behalf across the UK, EU and globally uses valuable resources and contributes to climate change. To date there aren’t viable alternatives to diesel powered freight vehicles although we make sure we comply with the latest Euro 6 emission requirements for new vehicles, which are the cleanest of their type ever produced.
GOING THE EXTRA MILE
Even with the latest specifications freight movements still have an impact on the environment so we have taken our commitment a step further as part of our Green Incentive Scheme.
In a move to become a more sustainable organisation we are working in partnership with Carbon Footprint Limited to support a tree planting programme that is designed to help offset our carbon footprint. Trees are essential to the global environment – as the world’s largest and longest living plants they improve air quality, conserve water, preserve soil, and support wildlife.
While we can’t completely offset the carbon footprint of goods transport around the world, we can reduce the burden and we are also supporting a project in the Amazon rainforest.
OUR COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT – HOW IT WORKS
From the beginning of 2022 our goal has been to plant one tree for every five jobs we complete for each of our customers. So, for example, if we receive 35 jobs from you in a 12-month period, our partnership arrangement means we will plant seven trees on your behalf.
Trees are planted every month and will be certified to confirm the number on a monthly and annual basis.
We could be on track to plant 600 to 700 trees annually with your support, potentially offsetting up to 2.6 tonnes of CO2 per acre.
Whilst this is not a solution to the problem, we believe this is a step in the right direction and look forward to working with you.
